Take a Kid Fishing

This year, more than 250 kids and their families gathered under the Barber Bridge in Vero Beach for the ninth annual "Take a Kid Fishing" tournament sponsored by the Vero/Treasure Coast Kiwanis Club.  As the aspiring anglers took their favorite spots Kiwanis gave out rods and reels for those who needed them.  Vero's Tackle and Sports Shop provided free bait and the fishing began at 9 am.

At 11:30 the contest ended and everyone enjoyed a cook-out prepared by the Kiwanis Club.  Awards were presented for most fish caught in three age categories and overall.  In addition, awards were given for the biggest fish and the ugliest fish.  For more information about this event and other Vero/Treasure Coast Kiwanis activities, contact Robi Robinson at robinson3440@bellsouth.net.
