GREG HOLTAN

IS A POSITIVE PERSON  

In 1980 Greg Holtan was one of the founding members of what is today the largest Kiwanis Aktion Club in the world.  At that time there were 33 members; today there are nearly 150.  The mission of Kiwanis Aktion Clubs is to provide opportunities for physically or mentally challenged adults to interact with the public and to socialize.  Greg says that its most important goal is "to have fun". 

            Greg has been the Chairman of the Aktion Club for nearly twenty years and described some of their annual activities as follows:

• Annual participation in "Special Olympics";
• Halloween Dance - this year's was October 19th in conjunction with the St. Helen's Harvest Festival;

• The Snowflake Ball - This year's ball will be the 18th annual and will be on December 4 from 5-9 pm at the Vero Elks Lodge; and,
• Bowling Outings - the next one will be in January at Vero Bowl.

            The Kiwanis Club of Vero-Treasure Coast continues to be a proud sponsor of the Aktion Club. As Kiwanis past president Lou Aprile says, "The most memorable part of being involved with the Aktion Club is to see the expressions of joy on the participants' faces".
